Iced Coffee Weather
I made this (really) rough animation last summer as a mock-up for an ad pitch, but it was never used, so maybe you guys will find it inspiring and go treat yourselves this week.
I will be at TCAF this weekend, squeezed in at table 208 with fellow Hana Doki Kira organizers Annie Stoll and Lindsay Cannizzaro, and sharing the table with Maritsa Patrinos. I am so pleased to be tabling with these ladies, they are absolute darlings.
I’ll have a bunch of prints, my Solid Sight zine and postcard pack, as well as 2 brand-new zines. Come by to chat about Hana Doki Kira, Four Points, clipper ships and stereograms. Also, check out the full TCAF map of HDK artists and more info about our debut book.
Congress (Bar Tab)
for The New Yorker
I made a little spot illo for a bar review in The New Yorker. Much of the work was already done for me—Congress has gorgeous custom-designed wallpaper which inspired my final piece. Thanks AD Jordan Awan.
I did an illustration for this article in Houstonia Magazine—A community is Houston is known for its friendly, pay-it-forward attitude. Houstonia is a really cool magazine and it was fun to work with them on such a warm piece!
Solid Sight 3D
My book Solid Sight debuted last year, and this year at TCAF I will also be selling a booklet of selected pieces as anaglyph 3D images. They will come with your very own pair of 3D glasses. Here’s a preview, you can test them yourself if you already have a pair of glasses.
Wow, almost 50,000 notes! Thanks Tumblr! (and thanks Annie!) This post includes a couple gifs I never posted to Tumblr, too.
1 - The animated version of the Walrus cover, which ended up not being used
2 - The Party
3 - The Quiet Ones, the gif version of which I couldn’t upload to Tumblr myself because sometime Tumblr just hates gifs. (ﾉಥ益ಥ）ﾉ ┻━┻
4 - Main Street Blues
The link below is to a post about my work on nfgraphics.com, a nice collection of almost all the .gif work I’ve done.
If you’re interested, you can also read an interview I did recently.
Hey that’s my pal, @rebeccamock ! Make sure you follow her tumblr too: http://rebeccamock.tumblr.com/
Fine, detailed and subtle animated artwork created by New York illustrator Rebecca Mock. Apparently the animated gif back to stay, gradually more and more people are exploring this old format and customers asking for shouting. Several of these illustrations were created for the New York Times or The Warlus magazine.
Re: “Alone, Yet Not Alone”
I have a .gif illustration on the NY Times Letters page today for an article about how people personally experience religious faith, and several reader opinions on it. The article and letters made me think of that painting “The Penitent Magdalen" by Georges De La Tour (one of my favorites), and this piece is a nod to its symbolism.
Rebecca Mock leads our first 3D comics reading. You read that correctly. It was incredible!
Thanks Annie Mok, Laura Knetzger, O Horvath, Kat Mukai, Kris Mukai and Bergen Street Comics for making last night magical. And thanks to everyone who came out and took part in the grand experiment that was my 3D presentation of Solid Sight! You all looked awesome in your 3D glasses.
