Re: “Alone, Yet Not Alone”
I have a .gif illustration on the NY Times Letters page today for an article about how people personally experience religious faith, and several reader opinions on it. The article and letters made me think of that painting “The Penitent Magdalen" by Georges De La Tour (one of my favorites), and this piece is a nod to its symbolism.
Rebecca Mock leads our first 3D comics reading. You read that correctly. It was incredible!
Thanks Annie Mok, Laura Knetzger, O Horvath, Kat Mukai, Kris Mukai and Bergen Street Comics for making last night magical. And thanks to everyone who came out and took part in the grand experiment that was my 3D presentation of Solid Sight! You all looked awesome in your 3D glasses.
January 18th at 7 PM at Bergen Street Comics, I’ll be a participant in a comics reading event organized and headlined by the amazing Annie Mok, who will be debuting Screentests. My fellow special guests are O. Horvath, Laura Knetzger, and Kat Mukai, all three terrific NYC artists!! I can’t wait to delve deeper into their work.
I will be giving a special presentation about my recent project Solid Sight, it will be ***IN 3D***, you won’t want to miss it!
Above me on the landing stood a strange girl, about my age, with short black hair. She was smiling down at me, not a warm smile, not a friendly smile, but the coldest, most frightening smile I had ever seen.
—Goosebumps #1 Welcome to Dead House, R. L. Stine
This is my piece for the MONSTER EDITION book! The book itself has just gone up for pre-order for a limited time—check out the store and the masterpost of artists. I was introduced to the work of a ton of talented artists through this book. I’m so glad to be a part of it! Welcome to Dead House is one of my favorite books from the series. So classically ridiculous and creepy.

I talked with Sam about art education, the obsessive creative process, fandom, and Kaiju Big Battel. I was really honored to be interviewed for YDMN. Sam was a gracious and enthusiastic host.
I updated my website this morning to include the pieces mentioned in the podcast. I really need to update it more regularly.

Hana Doki Kira Kickstarter
For the month of November we are spreading the love—raising funds to print our artbook Hana Doki Kira, and best of all, pimping our amazing artists. I am very proud of this project that showcases professional and amateur talent. If you can, consider pledging! Even if you can’t, you could still help by spreading the word—see below.
This is a sketch I made (she’s an ice cream magical girl, get it?) as an example of the commission or original sketch you could get from me if you pledge one of the higher tiers of our kickstarter. BUT if you reblog this post, you will get a chance to receive:
On December 1st I will choose 5 people at random. Help us spread the love!!!!
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Hana Doki Kira book kickstarter, which features Shōjo-inspired artwork from these amazing artists:

Monster Edition zine
This is a preview of the piece I made for the Monster Edition zine—a full-color zine inspired by Goosebumps. The organizers are currently raising funds to print the book, and this Friday they are holding a Halloween party fundraiser Welcome to Dead House at Cinecycle in Toronto. If you’re in the area, check it out!
If you are going to Comic-Con in NYC this weekend, check the BOOM!/Archaia booth (#1344) signing schedule. I will be joining fellow Spera vol. 3 artists Polly Guo and Michael Dialynas at various times through the weekend. I believe my schedule is Friday 10-11 AM, Saturday 6-7 PM, and Sunday 3-4 PM.
It’s crazy to see this comic in print. I drew it almost a year ago! I miss drawing Adel. Maybe I will draw him for you if you come ask me! ;)
